Final week at BCSM

Dear SEAD Family,

This week is my last at BCSM, and I absolutely don't feel ready to leave. Thank you so much for welcoming me into your school - it has been such a pleasure and privilege getting to know the SEAD students and supporting their work in and out of the classroom.

This weekend, we took a trip to relax before another week of hard work at BCSM. With dinner, gelato and laser against a group of highly competitive pre-teens, it was an awesome way to spend some quality time together. We were all on the victorious blue team, appropriate for BCSM's colors!

This week, BCSM students will have their first college meeting with Ms. Henriquez. It's such an exciting time to see how your hard work begins to pave the way to college, and a chance for you to talk about your personal goals and aspirations. I look forward to continuing these conversations with you all after your meetings!

Below are some pictures from the lasertag event!

Families and students, please reach out if you need anything, and I look forward to working with you all this week.

Best,
Sarah

Week 8

Hey SEAD Family,

I can't believe there are only 2 weeks left of my time here at BCSM, and I look forward to making every day count as we work together to excel this marking period. A highlight of this week was seeing Isabel, Safi and Johnael shine at the Science Fair on Thursday. I learned about cadmium and plant growth from Isabel, drugs and schizophrenia from Safi, and the risks of overpopulation in the Bronx from Johnael. It was awesome to see all the SEAD Scholars there supporting each other - I've never been to a more packed science fair! Isabel also competed in the New York City Science and Engineering Fair this weekend - so proud of all of her hard work both in and outside of BCSM.

This week, I've been sitting in on math, english and history classes to better support the SEAD students' upcoming assignments. It's a hard-working time at BCSM and we can all push ourselves to display grit and channel our stress for success. Last night's junior parents' college night presentation was a great moment to emphasize how stepping up to these challenges will pay off in college acceptances. It was awesome to grab pizza with Ariela, Lovtin and Jose (thanks Ms. Henriquez!), and to see some of Jose, Ariela, Safi and Michelle's family members there.

Don't forget we have an upcoming lasertag/dinner event this Sunday evening - more specific details to follow, and save the date!

Have a fantastic week!
