My name is Erika Johnson and I am excited to announce I will be the SEAD Intern at the Bronx Center for Science and Mathematics this fall! When I heard about the SEAD program I knew it was something I wanted to be apart of. I was in a program similar to SEAD in high school and it had such a huge impact on me. I truly hope to do the same for the students I will be working with this fall.
To tell you a little more about myself...I am a current sophomore at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire however I am originally from Milwaukee,Wisconsin. I am pursuing a minor in ethics and possibly majoring in public policy or sociology. I believe social equality is something everyone should be able to experience which is why my minor and major are geared towards the social sciences. Outside of my classes I enjoy going for walks, seeing plays, playing pool and admittedly binge watching Netflix. However I am excited for my new activity...being a SEAD intern.
This term I will be working heavily with SEAD students to ensure they are staying on top of homework, preparing for tests, and prepare for the college application process. Soon they will be applying to college and I want to make the process as smooth as applying to college can be. I will be very available at BCSM. I will be at the school Monday-Friday (Often in the college office) and staying after school Tuesday-Thursday. However, if someone shows interest in staying after school other days I will have no problem doing so.
I be in touch by phone throughout the term and posting information about what your students are up to in our new blog, so please feel free to check the blog often. A letter to parents/guardians should be arriving soon, along with my contact information so please feel free to contact me with any questions or even just to say hi.
Looking forward to what this term will bring!,
Erika
