Almost the Last Week.....

Hello wonderful SEAD people!!

This past week was a little more calmed down the week before, but there is always something to do at BCSM! I'm really proud of the students being responsible in meeting with me, trying to get their work done on time, and participating in after school academic work. :) Well done SEAD scholars!

I hope everyone enjoyed their three day weekend! The weather was wonderful. I know it was a great time to relax and catch up on much needed sleep. There was also plenty of time to do homework and prep for regents and finals!

This past week we celebrated two birthdays:

Happy Birthday, Ariela!!! AND Happy Birthday, Safi!!!

We will be eating donuts and cupcakes today to celebrate them (as well as KAT's birthday later this month!).

Unfortunately, due to scheduling, we were not able to have the SAT II prep sessions. However, for those taking the exam, make sure you come see me to get a copy of a practice exam to do at home. Another option is to stay after school one day to take the hour exam. I will grade it as soon as I see a completed exam. 

Make sure students are still coming to see me regularly throughout the week. We have been having conversations about colleges lately and finishing out this marking period strongly!

Well done SEAD students! I'm so glad to see your impressive strides this spring. Just a reminder, my last day at BCSM is next Wednesday, June 3rd.

Monday, June 8th - SUNY Empire State College Visit

       at SUNY ESC in Brooklyn at 6:00pm. It will be an information session.

Upcoming News and Events for SEAD

Dear SEAD families, guardians, and students!
Querido familias, guardianes, y estudiantes de SEAD,

Here are some important events coming up that are super important for the students.
Aquí son algunos eventos muy importantes para los estudiantes en los próximos días.

Saturday, May 23rd - SAT II Subject Test Prep  

       at Fordham University Library at 1:00pm. Bring paper and loose-leaf paper. The test will take about 1 hour. 

Tuesday, May 26th - SUNY Empire State College Visit 

       at SUNY ESC in Manhattan at 6:00pm. It will be an information session. 

Friday, May 29th - NYU College Visit

       at NYU in Greenwich Village Lower Manhattan immediately after school. We will finish by 4:30pm. 

Monday, June 8th - SUNY Empire State College Visit

       at SUNY ESC in Brooklyn at 6:00pm. It will be an information session.        

Please encourage students to continually meet with me regularly. We are making some progress. I want to make sure the conversations are focused more on college topics in these next few weeks.

Hola SEAD folks,


I can't believe that six weeks have already gone by, and there are only three more to go! Thank you to all the families who have supported their students thus far. You all have been such a help to keeping the SEAD scholars on track and helping them participate in SEAD events. This past week there were so many things going on! I have a little composition of photos to review the week.

On Tuesday, I went to the baseball game where Jose and Lovtin were active members on the team. They played a tough team and won. :)

Fun Activities with SEAD!

Hello SEAD BCSM!

This past week has been somewhat crazy with all of the testing and meetings going on.

Congratulations to Ariela, Isabel, Kat, and Safi for completing the AP US History exam last Friday!

Also, congratulations to Isabel for finishing the AP Biology exam yesterday!

This week Lovtin and Jose have baseball games everyday. For those interested in supporting them, here is a link to their schedule http://www.psal.org/profiles/team-profile.aspx#006/09260 . Finish strong Morrisania!

To the students, be sure to be checking in regularly with teachers and keeping up with scheduling this last marking period because it is full of tests and big projects. Keep preparing for the upcoming June SAT. We will be hosting a study prep next Saturday the 23rd of May.

Lastly, there are a bunch of events this weekend!

Esta semana pasada había muchos examenes, ¡pero hemos sobrevivido!

¡Felicidades a Ariela, Isabel, Kat, y Safi por terminar el examen de AP US History el viernes pasado!

¡Felicidades a Isabel por acabar el examen de AP Biology este lunes pasado!

Para los estudiantes, es muy importante que ustedes ven los emails frequentemente, están hablando con los maestros cada día, y están preparando para los examenes y proyectos finales debido que es el último período de evaluación en BCSM. SEAD Dinner Memories

Testing Time

Hello everyone!

It seems as though everyone had a great time eating and playing their roles for the Gatsby party! The day was a success, and all of the SEAD students participated and even helped decorate.

Just a reminder, the AP US History exam is this Friday, May 8th, and the following day there is a mock regents US History exam. The students know to whom it applies. 

Also make sure the students have registered for the SAT in June by this Friday as well! It is a prime opportunity to take the subject tests.

ALL JUNIORS - Make sure you have your college meeting asap! Mr. Kurz and Ms. Henriquez have important things to tell you.

Finally, once testing is all done, we will be going to play laser tag at Chelsea Piers on Saturday, May 16th. I really hope you guys can come out and relax!
